We know there's one thing that really sets us apart: our people. In this series, we take you behind the scenes with people from all over DB Results and show you what really makes us tick.
Hello, my name is Lilian and I’m a Consultant at DB Results’ Sydney office.
I started at DB Results as an Associate Consultant and have progressed to Consultant. As I approach a year of working at DB Results, I have cultivated new experiences and knowledge from different engagements. I am mainly involved in testing roles and have touched on the pre-sales, design and discovery phases of a project, allowing me to grow my business analysis skills. I am currently working at a project for Resolution Life as a tester.
Executing data migration testing is new for me and has widened my perception of the intricacies of a project and the significance of ensuring data is migrated correctly and reflected in the new platform. My favourite part about being a tester is that we see the complete picture. It's exciting to see what we build from the beginning to the end.
People come to me for help executing specific business processes on an engagement, it seems AR (Advisory Remuneration) has been deeply ingrained in my memory as I am surprised how I still remember the processes.
I am fortunate to work with teams that stretch beyond Australian waters like when we worked closely with the Philippines and Portugal team. Although it was amazing to work with incredible people – the time difference emerged as an impediment. We had to apply flexibility in working arrangements, primarily when we relied on clarification which required both or all parties to be online to resolve.
People may deem testing as a boring role or lacking space for growth. Though testing is an integral part of a project, ensuring the system or platform created is operating at a quality standard and matches business requirements. Testing occurs near the end of the process where you can see how the business requirements are translated into user stories, then developed and tested for quality assurance. It is a great way to understand the overall picture, experience the system from the end-to-end process, and grow your communication skills.
Before joining the DB Results team, I worked as a marketing and sales assistant for a company that distributed software for the Port and Terminal Industry. I worked cross-functionally as a QA member, which has helped relay testing experience in my current field.
The most enjoyable part of my current project is working with the team. We spend most of the day together so it’s crucial to institute a strong foundation and positive working environment. No matter how tough it gets on a project, I’m constantly reminded that we are a team. On countless occasions where actions speak louder than words – I witness the level of care leaders and team members employ to take care of each other.
When I’m away from DB Results I love getting out and about with friends and family, especially over a good meal or coffee. I have a tight knit group and digging into a delicious meal with a cold beverage in hand is typically how we bond on a Friday night – what better way to kickstart the weekend!?
Something people may not know about me is that I love Japanese culture, I’m a huge fan of anime and Japanese food. I love the culture so much that I am learning the language online to prepare for my upcoming trip to Japan!
My most outstanding personal achievements are constantly changing. I was a bit shy before joining DB Results but being surrounded by great team members who genuinely want the best for me has nurtured my personal growth, and now I feel more confident taking up tasks that are new and foreign to me which I am proud of!
