Hi there! I’m Sushma and I am a Lead Consultant at DB Results, based in our Sydney office.
I joined DB Results nearly three years ago as a consultant, and it’s been an incredible journey of growth, learning, and collaboration ever since. Over time, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some truly talented individuals whose expertise has helped me evolve into my current role as a lead consultant.
My role combines both technical and functional streams. I spend a lot of time gathering requirements, translating business needs into actionable outcomes, and bridging the gap between delivery teams and stakeholders. My days are usually packed with collaboration: I work closely with product owners, solution architects, developers, and testers to ensure we’re all aligned and delivering value.
Although most of my collaboration happens with the Melbourne team and our customers, I start every day with a coffee and a quick catch-up with my Sydney colleagues. It’s a small ritual that keeps us all connected and grounded before diving into meetings, workshops, and solution assessments.
One thing people often say about me is that I’m approachable and always up for a chat. I love bouncing around ideas, helping teammates work through challenges, or simply lending a listening ear. I really enjoy that side of consulting, it’s about people as much as it is about technology and processes.
I specialise in business analysis, and I thrive in both technical and non-technical settings. One of the best parts of the job is taking business goals and turning them into clearly defined requirements that development teams can run with. One of the proudest moments in my career so far was receiving the GM Award for Excellence in 2023, along with a nomination for the Elite Performer Award. Both recognitions meant a lot to me; they represented hard work, resilience, and the ability to adapt and lead, especially during transformative phases of a project.
Over the years, I’ve taken on a range of roles ranging from test analyst to cloud support engineer, and eventually to consulting, where I’ve juggled responsibilities across business and technical analysis. Each role has taught me something new, helped me sharpen my skills, and given me a more holistic view of how technology and strategy intersect.
There’s a common myth that business analysts just document requirements, but the role goes so much deeper. It’s about connecting the dots, solving problems, and making sure that business needs are heard and addressed effectively. You’re often the translator between vision and execution, helping teams align and drive toward a common goal. And seeing it all come together. Watching that ‘movie’ play out after months of hard work, is incredibly rewarding!
Outside of work, I wear my most important title: mum. My son just turned one and watching him grow and experience the world has brought so much perspective into my life. I returned to work when he was just six months old, and while balancing motherhood and career hasn’t always been easy, it’s been one of my greatest personal achievements. It’s taught me to find strength in unexpected places and to embrace each moment fully, whether I’m at my desk or with my family.
I’m also a trained Indian classical singer and play the Veena, a beautiful traditional string instrument. Music is my escape, my joy, and my connection to home. It keeps me grounded and inspired.
Speaking of home, I moved to Sydney from India eight years ago. Leaving everything familiar behind and building a new life in a different country wasn’t easy, but it’s shaped who I am today. I’ve learned how to build relationships from scratch, find my place in new communities, and keep moving forward with curiosity and purpose.
When I’m not working, I’m usually enjoying a peaceful early morning walk, soaking in the sunrise before the rest of the world wakes up. I also love music, trying out new recipes, and taking little moments to just be present.
I take pride in my adaptability, my willingness to step into new challenges, and my ability to bring people together. Whether it’s navigating motherhood, new cities, or new projects, I believe in meeting every moment with grace, grit, and a smile.
