We know there’s one thing that really sets us apart: our people. In this series, we take you behind the scenes with people from all over DB Results and show you what really makes us tick.
Hi, I’m Jeisson, currently working as a consultant here at DB Results in Melbourne. I’ve been lucky enough to work across a variety of projects, bringing together my experience in development, coordination, and project management. I recently wrapped up a long engagement with a large insurance company, where I focused on releases, deployment planning, and development work.
My sweet spot is in project coordination and management. I’ve had experience across testing, development, and business analysis, which has helped me understand how different pieces of a project fit together. My goal is to continue growing as a project manager and eventually become someone who can lead projects from start to finish with confidence, empathy, and structure.
Originally from Colombia, my career looked quite different. I worked in logistics, managing container operations at a port and overseeing building materials for construction projects. I also worked in retail, where I managed stock and got hands-on with warehouse systems. When I arrived in Australia, I started out in hospitality while I was studying. I went from waiting tables to becoming an assistant manager at a fine dining venue in Melbourne, which turned out to be one of the best things for me. It really helped me open up socially, understand local culture and language, and adapt to the fast-paced life here.
When COVID hit and hospitality paused, I saw an opportunity to pivot. I studied IT project management through a program run by the Victorian Government, started picking up contracting roles, and eventually found my way into the world of consulting and project work. That leap changed everything.
One of the highlights of my time at DB Results was working on a complex project with another large insurance company. It involved the separation and migration of systems after part of the business was sold. I started in a project coordination role but quickly became part of the technical team supporting the cutover process. There were lots of rehearsals, long hours, and tight deadlines, but in the end, we delivered what was considered the smoothest migration the company had experienced. It was a true team effort, and I was proud to be part of it.
What I really appreciate about working at DB Results is the people. The culture here is incredibly collaborative and social. Whether it’s a coffee catch-up, a team lunch, or Friday drinks, there’s always an opportunity to connect, learn, and share ideas. It makes the work more meaningful and the days more enjoyable.
Outside of work, I like to keep an active lifestyle, it helps me stay sharp and keep my energy up. I recently did an eight-week fitness challenge at my gym where I tracked my weight, measurements, and health metrics. Out of 80 participants, I placed in the top five, which was a great personal achievement.
I also have a creative side – music has always been a big part of my life. About a year ago, I completed a DJ course and now play regular gigs, support my DJ friends, and spend hours curating playlists. It’s something I really enjoy and a fun way to wind down after a busy week.
Sundays are my family days. My partner and I, along with our very energetic border collie, we love going for long walks and enjoy the fresh air. It’s our time to slow down and reset before the week kicks off again.
In my consulting work, I’ve found that success comes from more than just knowing the technical side. For me, it’s just as important to understand myself, be able to connect with people, and really get to know the customer. I’ve also been putting a lot of focus on simplifying finance reporting in projects, using AI tools to make things easier and more accessible for everyone involved. I genuinely believe that when the numbers are clear, the whole project runs better.
At the end of the day, I’m here to keep learning and growing. Whether that’s through project planning, better networking, or simply understanding people more deeply, I want to bring value to every project I’m a part of. And I’m glad I get to do that with such a great team at DB Results.
