We know there’s one thing that really sets us apart: our people. In this series, we take you behind the scenes with people from all over DB Results and show you what really makes us tick.
Hi, I’m Chelsea Wigg, and I’m an Associate Consultant at DB Results, where I specialise in UX/UI Design and serve as the Governance Coordinator and Executive Assistant to our Chief Delivery Officer, Matt Nidd.
I started my journey studying a Bachelor of Design and Media Communications. However, as COVID disrupted my plans, I pivoted into social media marketing for a small business. It was during this time that DB Results reached out with an opportunity, and the rest is history!
At DB Results, I’m fortunate to be involved in a variety of roles. Currently, I’m working on a project as part of the UX/UI Design team, I help design user interfaces and work closely with product owners to create an optimised user experience. It’s a collaborative effort that allows me to tap into my creativity while addressing real user needs.
My days at DB Results are a mix of governance and design work. In my governance role, I assist with internal reporting activities for our Chief Delivery Officer, Matt Nidd, including participating in project steering committees and organising weekly delivery updates. I also manage contractual and opportunity approval meetings. These tasks give me valuable insights into project management and governance, and they help me understand how projects align with business goals. I work closely with Matt to ensure his calendar is on track and that he’s well-prepared for every meeting.
On the design side, I focus on creating user-centric solutions. I collaborate with the customer’s design team, using tools like Figma to develop wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups. I also conduct user research and demos, ensuring that our designs align with customer requirements and expectations. It’s incredibly rewarding to bring our clients’ visions to life through user-centric design solutions.
One of the most fulfilling projects I’ve been involved in was for a major utility provider, where I contributed as part of the cutover team. Collaborating with a dedicated team, we successfully launched a new billing system after countless night shifts, dress rehearsals, and overcoming various hurdles. This project is one I take immense pride in, as it not only allowed me to contribute meaningfully but also provided me with invaluable learning experiences.
People often reach out to me for advice on UX/UI design, through my experience in project work and as a mentor in our internal UX/UI Design Program. My ability to work across different projects has given me a diverse skill set, and I love sharing my knowledge with others.
A lot of people mistakenly think UX/UI design is all about making things look “pretty”. It’s about solving user problems and making sure that everything we design aligns with both business goals and user needs. It’s a process of continuous improvement and testing to create the best experience possible.
A standout moment in my DB Results career was receiving the Managing Director’s Award for being an adaptive consultant. Juggling multiple roles has been both challenging and rewarding, and I’m proud to have been recognised for my ability to adjust and deliver results during critical project phases.
When I’m not at work, I’m living the coastal life on the Bellarine Peninsula. After a busy day in Melbourne, I enjoy the slower pace and relaxed lifestyle of the coast. You’ll often find me walking along the beach, reading a book, or meeting up with family and friends for coffee.
I’ve always made fitness a priority, and pilates and yoga are a big part of my weekly routine. I’m also a huge fan of sunrise walks (coffee in hand, of course) and taking in the beautiful wineries here in the Bellarine. On the weekends, I enjoy family dinners and occasionally going to the Torquay Pub on a Friday night with friends.
I also played a lot of basketball growing up and was lucky enough to represent Victoria Country at the State Championships in 2015. I recently finished my last season playing for Geelong United in the Youth League division, which was a great way to close that chapter.
A big personal achievement of mine was in 2024, where my partner and I built our first house together. A huge life milestone that I’ll be forever grateful for.
