Pioneering Digital Transformation in Cherbourg

DB Results has recently partnered with Cherbourg Shire Council, Department of Housing, Communities, and Digital Economy, Department of Tourism, Innovation, and Sport in Queensland  to develop digital transformation initiatives in Cherbourg for the Indigenous community.

The Cherbourg Service Centre officially opened on 1 April 2022 and is the first digital service centre of its kind to operate in a remote Indigenous community.

The new service centre is an initiative of Advance Queensland’s Deadly Innovation Strategy, with the aim of increasing economic opportunities and independence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through greater involvement in the digital economy.

Through this partnership, DB Results aims to empower Indigenous Australians in Queensland by fostering opportunities and economic independence. A primary goal seeks to bolster the local digital economy in Cherbourg while supporting deliver of Queensland’s Government digital capabilities. Additionally, we strive to provide employment and career development opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, benefiting individuals, communities, Queenslanders, and employers alike.

These initiatives present viable prospects for sustaining the local digital economy, ultimately breaking the cycle of disadvantage and instilling confidence and hope within the community.

Opportunities arising from these efforts include establishing pathways for Indigenous businesses and innovators to thrive, creating Digital Futures for Indigenous individuals and communities, providing support platforms for Indigenous businesses and innovators to connect with job opportunities, increasing the likelihood of success for Indigenous businesses and innovators when applying to existing government programs, and fostering vibrant networks to maximise opportunities for all involved.
