Hospital Productivity Innovation Grant

28th September 2026

Put AI to work on one of your hospital’s real productivity challenges

A grant program from DB Results, for Australian hospitals.
The Hospital Productivity Innovation Grant is an investment from DB Results towards AI solution development, awarded to one Australian hospital. It serves as a catalyst for AI operationalisation with real impact.

  • Up to $100,000

in DB Results' professional services, as our team's advisory, design, development and delivery time

  • One hospital

selected through a structured assessment process

  • Application date

Applications open 28 September and close 27 October 2026

What the grant is

DB Results is investing in professional services to help one Australian hospital accelerate AI operationalisation. This is not a cash grant, but a partnership that provides advisory, design, development and delivery expertise to launch a proven AI solution into production. Participating hospitals must commit executive sponsorship, staff time, monetary investment and the required infrastructure, data and licensing to ensure success.

What the grant provides

Up to $100,000 of DB Results professional services (advisory, design, development and delivery), a genuine allocation of value rather than an in-kind contribution

Discovery: working with the hospital’s clinical and operational leads to validate the problem, confirm the AI use case, and set a realistic path to production

Design: solution and workflow design tailored to the hospital’s environment, including how the AI initiative fits existing clinical and operational systems

Development: build of the AI-enabled solution, including the agentic components needed to act and orchestrate within the hospital’s workflow, not just generate output for someone to interpret

Implementation to production: integration, testing, and go-live support to get the initiative genuinely live and in use, not stopped at a pilot or proof of concept

A structured path from application to kickoff, including a dedicated briefing session, coaching through the application, and a defined award and start date

Example project concepts

We have identified six example concepts to help hospitals frame a proposal, based on where AI is delivering measurable productivity gains in health settings globally.

Patient flow and bed management: Improving how beds, wards, and discharge planning are coordinated to reduce bottlenecks and delays.

Clinical documentation support: Reducing the administrative burden on clinicians so more time goes to patients, not paperwork.

Patient access: Improving patient access and/or call routing.

Elective surgery waitlist prioritisation: Helping clinical and operational teams sequence waitlists more fairly and efficiently.

Workforce rostering optimisation: Matching staff availability and skills to demand, with less manual rework.

Data Quality & Governance: Strengthening clinical data quality, with one governed source for data and insight across the hospital.

Eligibility

You are an Australian public or private hospital invited to apply as part of this program.

You have identified an executive sponsor able to champion the project and commit their own time to it.

You can make the time of relevant clinical and operational staff available to a structured discovery, design and implementation process.

Your hospital is ready to co-invest and fund any infrastructure, licensing, additional professional services or data access the project needs.

You have a specific, well-owned productivity challenge in mind, whether from the example concepts above or one particular to your hospital.

The proposed solution is agentic: AI that can actively support decisions and coordinate steps in a workflow, not just generate content or predictions for a person to act on manually.

You can commit to a project kickoff no later than 1 February 2027 if selected.

How applications are assessed
Criterion and Weight:
– Hospital Commitment and Investment: 25%
– Hospital Impact: 20%
– AI Enablement: 20%
– Feasibility: 15%
– Strategic Alignment: 10%
– Measurable Outcomes: 10%

Hospital Commitment and Investment carries the greatest weight, reflecting our view that a hospital’s own readiness to co-invest is the biggest driver of a successful outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a cash grant?

No. The $100,000 value is provided in professional services, as our team’s advisory, design, development and delivery time. It does not cover hardware, software licensing, data platform costs or other operational expenses. Any such costs required to put the solution into production remain the hospital’s responsibility.

What does the grant provide?

  • Up to $100,000 AUD of DB Results professional services (advisory, design, development and delivery), a genuine allocation of value rather than an in-kind contribution
  • Discovery: working with the hospital’s clinical and operational leads to validate the problem, confirm the AI use case, and set a realistic path to production
  • Design: solution and workflow design tailored to the hospital’s environment, including how the AI initiative fits existing clinical and operational systems
  • Development: build of the AI-enabled solution, including the agentic components needed to act and orchestrate within the hospital’s workflow, not just generate output for someone to interpret

How do we apply?

Applications are submitted through a short Microsoft Forms application through this link. There is no separate portal or email based process. The form will be live from the program launch date, 28 September 2026.

Can we speak to someone before we apply?

Yes. After you apply, one of our account directors will reach out to you. You are welcome to reach out directly with questions at any point before the application window closes, to Impact@dbresults.com.au or your account director.

What do the assessment criteria actually mean?

Hospital Commitment and Investment (25%) looks at your readiness to back the project with executive sponsorship, the time of relevant clinical and operational staff, funding of additional professional services and any infrastructure, licensing or data access it needs. A clear appetite to co-invest and fund the initiative into production will be heavily weighted in the assessment.

Hospital Impact (20%) looks at the scale of the productivity or care benefit once the solution is in production, and how directly it addresses a problem that matters to your hospital.

AI Enablement (20%) looks at whether the proposed solution is genuinely agentic, actively supporting decisions and coordinating steps in a workflow, rather than simple automation or reporting.

Feasibility (15%) looks at whether the idea can realistically move through discovery, design, prototype, implementation and go-live within the program timeline, given the data and access available.

Strategic Alignment (10%) looks at how closely the proposal connects to your hospital’s own stated priorities and strategy, DB Results capabilities, Profit for Purpose principles and B Corp values.

Measurable Outcomes (10%) looks at whether success can be defined clearly upfront and tracked once the solution is live.

What happens if our hospital is selected?

We will work with your team to confirm scope and stand up the project, with kickoff no later than 1 February 2027. From there, our team works alongside your clinical and operational leads to move from discovery through design, prototype, implementation and go-live. The expectation is a production-ready solution that can be used in the hospital environment, not a pilot that stops at proof of concept.

What happens if our hospital is not selected?

We recognise that hospitals will invest real time and effort into a strong application. We are happy to provide feedback on request, and welcome future conversations about how we might work together outside the grant program.

Who owns the outputs of the project?

The successful hospital owns the outcomes of its own project. Ownership, intellectual property, and data handling terms are confirmed in a formal agreement with the selected hospital before the project kicks off.

Will our hospital be named publicly if we participate?

Yes, we intend to publish a case study based on the successful production, developed and approved together with the hospital. However, nothing about your hospital, your data, or your outcomes is published without your agreement.

What do you mean by "AI enabled"?

We are looking for solutions that go beyond simple automation or reporting. The strongest proposals involve agentic AI that can actively support decisions and coordinate steps in a workflow, not just generate content or predictions for a person to interpret and act on manually.

Who do we contact with questions?

For anything not covered here, contact Impact@dbresults.com.au. You can also contact your DB Results account director if you have one. We are happy to talk through your specific situation and help you complete your application.
